BERN

Path of the People

Bern embraces its namesake with bears in the fountain, bears on the clock tower, bears in paintings, bears in flags, and, yes, two bears that live along the riverside. After our walking tour, a few of us searched for a restaurant to try raclette. It came as a do it yourself cheese melting operation that you then added to potatoes. A new favorite!

Habkern is a tiny village with a big Swiss charm. Heinz shared his passion for hand crafting alphorns. We were given a chance to try the alphorn. Mike was first and wowed us with his musical background. No one wanted to follow Mike, but I had to try it out! I played the alphorn… not exactly a melody but truly a memory.
